8. Where your leads come from

The Origin column shows where each lead came from.

Here you can overview all your leads and their origins. Under the column "Origin" you can see where leads come from. You may be receiving leads from your BarnDealer website, from the "Download Our Current Pricing" form on your homepage, from specific inventory on your inventory page, and from the "Contact Us" form on the "Contact Us" page. You may also receive leads from Old Hickory (oldhickorybuildings.com) from the brochure downloads, "Contact Us" forms, clearance inventory listings, and the 3D builder.

What's Happening

When a dealer logs an action from the list view (without opening the Lead Details), the follow-up date may not update properly. This causes the lead to remain in "overdue" status even though the dealer has already contacted the customer.

Current Workaround

To ensure the follow-up status updates correctly:

  1. Click on the lead's name to open the Lead Details page

  2. Update the follow-up date from within the Lead Details view

  3. The lead will automatically change from "overdue" to showing the actual follow-up date

Important Notes

  • Simply logging an action from the list view may NOT update the follow-up date, this is part of the known bug

  • The dealer must open the individual lead details by clicking the name

  • Once the follow-up date is changed inside the lead details, the overdue status will clear automatically

  • Our dev team is working on fixing this so actions logged from the list view also update the follow-up date properly

Following up on your leads

A lead is ANY contact information a potential customer gives you, such as an email address or phone number. Often customers send JUST an email or JUST a phone number, or a message that makes no sense (like "N/A") because a field was required. We see this often. It is still a potential lead and worth your attention.

  • Email: use a prepared template to start the conversation quickly.

  • Phone number: call as soon as you can. Customers tend to leave a phone number when they're interested in buying soon or want to talk.

Treat every lead with urgency. The longer you wait to reach out, the more likely they lose interest. Consistency is key: regular, dedicated follow-up turns even unassuming leads into customers.

Not every shopper submits a lead. Many research your inventory online and then walk in, so it's worth asking walk-in customers whether they visited your website first.

Sales tips

  • Ask questions: the more you understand about what your customer needs, the more they feel heard, and the better you can match them to the right product.

  • Understand emotions: everyone buys on emotion. Find out what makes your customers feel great and connect your products to it. How does it feel to not have room to park your car in the garage?
