We're excited to help you set up and start showcasing your inventory to the world. Let's walk through the first steps to get your site up and running. We're here to help every step of the way, so reach out if you need anything.
These steps are the same whichever manufacturer you sell for. Only the screens look a little different for Old Hickory Buildings (US and Canada), Derksen and Backyard Outfitters dealers, and we call out the differences below.

How to add inventory: https://vimeo.com/820351606
Step 1: Enter your dealer code
Log into your BarnDealer site with the login details from your welcome email. Once logged in, enter your Dealer Code and Business Name. This links your profile to your assigned inventory.
Old Hickory: enter your Old Hickory Dealer Code. You can find it in your Old Hickory Dealer Portal. If you still cannot find it, ask your Territory Manager.
Derksen: if your dealer code is already entered, go straight to the next step.
Step 2: Set up your business details
Derksen dealers: this step may already be done for you. Just double check all of the details.
Click Business Details.
Enter your business details: fill in your business information thoroughly, including your phone number, email and physical address, so customers can reach you. Accuracy here is key to a professional appearance.
Address formatting: Google search your business address and copy the format exactly as it appears on Google. Leave out extra details like "behind the gas station" or "near Taco Bell". These confuse search engines and can mislead your customers.
NOTE: When entering your address information into the Business Details section, input your address exactly as Google lists your address. For example, if Google lists your address as:
123 Main St, Suite 200, Mainland, IL 62701
Then you should enter the address that same way into your Business Details section, and do not deviate like follows:
123 Main Street, Suite #200, Mainland, IL 62701
Scroll to the bottom of your Business Details page to add the content for your About Us section. This introduces your business to potential customers. Keep it simple yet informative: mention your location and your reason for doing business.
Step 3: Your inventory
Old Hickory Buildings (US and Canada)
1. View Inventory: Navigate to the "Buildings" section to see all inventory associated with your Dealer Code from the Old Hickory database. BarnDealer receives all buildings that are assigned to you in the Old Hickory system.
To edit a building, click the "Edit" button next to it.
2. Edit Building Details: In the edit view, you can see the finer details of the building.
Be sure to add a photo of the building. The featured image will be the first image visitors see, and the gallery photos will display on the building's product page.
3. Display on Website: As long as a building has a photo added, it will appear live on your website for customers to see. You can verify this by navigating to "View Site" on the left side of the page and then going to the inventory page.
4. Manually Add Inventory: If your inventory is not listed in the Old Hickory database under your Dealer Code, you can manually add it using the "+ Add Building" button. Once a building is manually added and a photo is uploaded, it will show up on the website!
NOTE: Your inventory syncs on an hourly basis so you will likely never have to Manually Add a Buidling.
For the full details, see the Old Hickory Inventory Guide.
Derksen
1. View Inventory: Navigate to the "Buildings" section to see all inventory associated with your Dealer Code.
2. Feature an inventory item on your homepage: Click the check box under "Featured" to highlight that inventory item on your homepage in addition to showing up on your inventory page.
3. If you logged into your facebook, you can also automatically post the building to Facebook using the facebook share button!
